Best New Noise Releases I Heard in 2023 (In Alphabetical Order)

Aux Armes - Radikal (Old Captain)

Anonymous leftist power electronics.  Some people have supposedly guessed who it is, but I have not.  Record label is from Ukraine.

Boredom Knife (Finland) - Stalker (Crucial Blast)

Intense power electronics that warrants repeated listens.

Clang Quartet (US) -  A Slow Death For The Peacemaker (No Rent)

Incredible and long-running Christian experimental noise project that for some reason, The Wire (UK) still hasn't given coverage to.  What are they afraid of?

Jordan Darby (US) - New Hymnals Vol. I (Hissing Objects)

Ex-Dry Rot, Uranium Orchard, The MIND, etc.  Impressive Christian experimental noise made with tape loops and processed vocals.

Linekraft (Japan) - Hunger for Life (Old Captain)

Intense live power electronics album from Japan.  Is actually a good intro to the project, which is extremely rare for any live albums...

Living Room (US) - failed attempts at blistered earth 2xCS (Self-Released)

Matt Reis from several bands and projects, including Developer (from Dayton) and friends.  That's all you need to know.

Living Room (US) - Intellectual Shit (Self-Released)

Yeah, just look above.

Living Room (US)/Suffering Brings Wisdom - Live at the Comet split (Self-Released)

Look above again, but it should also be known that Suffering Brings Wisdom is one of the most underrated up-and-coming noisecore bands in the Midwest.

Merzbow/Sissy Spacek - Coronado 2xCD (Helicopter)

Do I really need to say anything about this?  Well, Charlie drums on it, too.  Merzbow supplied the noise, John edited it and supplied more noise...

Not streaming anywhere, sorry...

Patriots As Slaves (US) - HNW Amendment 1 (Stemms Tapes)

Harsh noise wall (obviously).  Self-described as "moving walls".  Timely theme, provocative cover art, title, and name.

Sissy Spacek (US) - Absorb Wanting Symbols (Petite Soles)

Lineup also includes Aaron Dilloway, Richard Ramirez, Sean Matzus, and Bill Nace.  That is all you need to know.

Whore's Breath (US) - Wet Slate (Stemms Tapes)

Dark HNW in the vein of Black Matter Phantasm and The Ebony Tower.  Has its own flavor, though, and makes use of dynamics.  Hard to find unique HNW in 2023, but here you go.  David has been very prolific under different names since the early 00's or late 90's.

Zalhietzli (France) - Armure (Self-Released)

Experimental noise that caught me by surprise.  7.5 out of 10
