An Atomic Whirl(Japan)/FSTFCKR(ashville)/Putrid Liquid/Lx420/OTMR
Putrid Liquid (downloads HERE) went on first and were as sick as their name!!!! I caught most of their set and loved it! Tasty goregrind/brutal death from Dayton that hit the spot. I could've gone home after that and been satisfied. *licks lips* Dale M. "Burnheart" (that's your new nickname) gave me what was the last of their splits with Rectal Prolapse. My disc drive isn't working, but I think it's online. It'll be coming out on cassette for all you sick grind and death metal freaks, so look out for that!!!! Btw it was GREAT to see Randy and Angelo for the first time since eons of forever of black holes past. Glad y'allz doin' well, even if you're not undead!!!
Homegrown (hurr hurr hurr) grindcore hwee-roes Liquidx420 were up next. Their set was longer than their previous ones I've seen, which were usually over in the blink of an eye. Blake incorporated some harsh noise into their cannabis-listic attack, which as a noisehead, I appreciated. The set started a bit slow, energy-wise, but it picked up and cremated what little was was left of my barren and morbid soul. I'm typing this as a reanimated corpse now.
Off the Meat Rack brought some sadboi "cry-rap" (as he calls it) with some extremely well-done sampling and intense vocals. Even my dead-ass was impressed and the dead don't understand hip-hop or tears...
By the time An Atomic Whirl (noise rock from JAPAN!!!) came on, my back was starting to really hurt... They were about as weird as their recordings and tight, but coulda been louder. Such are the limitations of a bass-and-drum duo, though. If I was still alive, it probably would have hit me harder.
When Fstfckr (Asheville, NC) came on, I was outside, grimacing in severe pain. I had to sit on the ground against the wall of a building, but still managed to enjoy what I heard. Very powerful and heavy powerviolence/queercore assault from some... queer-identified(?) ladies(?). Not sure how/what they identified as and I want to respect that. Also, I wanted to tell them that I was really impressed with their set, but figured they get enough dudes saying that to hit on them, so I left them alone. If any of y'all are reading this, however, please take this review as a compliment. Respect from the undead!!! Uuuuuaaaarrrrrgggggghhhhh or something...
I was in agony during Bed Sore and Frustrate (both of Lexington)'s sets (a last-minute addition), but I think they were hc punk/old school punk??? Frustrate sounded better to me, but it was all kind of a blur. Even in my currently undead state, I can't recall too well what happened. Maybe something involving the sound of shovels and dirt?
Anyhow, a very dear friend got me an Uber home. The driver was very kind and previously lived in NYC, so we had a great conversation about there and how we prefer to live here. I then came home did what I needed to do for my back while my cat was trying his best to get my attention, and then I hit the sack. Just woke up from sleeping now and my cat is trying to get more attention from me (of course). Surprised he can stand the reek of my putrefaction...
Onward to death (unless you've already reached it)!!!!!!!!
Okay, I'm gonna get a free bagel with this coupon I got in the mail now, so see y'all laterz! Will probably have to edit this thing again, though... ha
